Established in 2017 by Founder Nicole Harcourt, Sanctuary Housing as a not-for-profit charity, provides supportive outcomes for women and children escaping domestic violence and facing homelessness.
In Australia, one woman is killed every week by her current or former partner (AIHW). Domestic violence in Australia is a desperate issue and with its prevalence rising, we need crisis accommodation now more than ever.
Sanctuary Housing is proud to offer housing solutions through women only emergency accommodation, as well as medium term housing.
We operate Shelters across Sydney, running 24/7, 365 days a year.
Sanctuary Housing is currently able to accommodate up to 100 women and their children (and their pets!) at any one time in our Sydney Shelters. We operate at approximately 90% occupancy year round.
Women and children are our priority - and we provide all meals, toiletries & clothing, as well as 24/7 security monitoring to ensure that women feel safe, secure and supported.
Further to this, we provide referral links to case management services to ensure that women have all the support required when moving forwards on their journey.
Our short-term vision is to continue to open new shelters for communities in need.
Our long term vision is to help women transition to longer-term accommodation. We see first hand how challenging it can be for women to secure rentals with little (or no) rental history or financial stability. Our vision is to acquire a block of units so that we can help women transition to longer-term accommodation and develop a rental history.
Nicole has worked in Crisis Accommodation and Housing Solutions for several years. She is a known activist for homelessness and has a strong focus on guiding women to fulfilling lives.
Through her role with Sanctuary Housing, Nicole works closely with the Governance Board and supports vital networks to ensure that all women who visit the shelter are supported.
Nicole is a Number One Bestselling Author in the Self Help market as well as an international life coach who is featured in international news as a well-regarded expert in social welfare.
Simone Pharon has worked extensively in creating and initiating programs for the Australian Government. Simone uses her extensive knowledge of programming to ensure best practices for the board; and for the everyday operation of the Shelters.
